About VEISS
Founded in 2021 by Ms. Gerline Isaac, the Vitiligo Education and Inspiration Support Society (VEISS) is a non-profit patient support group based in St. Martin. The organization is dedicated to educating the community, inspiring confidence, and providing ongoing support to people living with vitiligo and their loved ones.
Though still growing, VEISS currently has 10 members, including six individuals affected by vitiligo. The Society focuses on fostering a close-knit, supportive environment where members can share experiences, learn from each other, and find encouragement in their journey with this autoimmune condition.
VEISS actively engages in a variety of community projects designed to raise awareness and reduce stigma associated with vitiligo. These include monthly member meetings, school initiatives to educate young people about the condition, workshops aimed at boosting self-confidence, and team-building activities that strengthen community bonds.
Fundraising is a key component of VEISS’s efforts, helping to sustain its outreach programs and expand its capacity to support more people in the region. Through public events and awareness campaigns, the organization seeks to normalize vitiligo within St. Martin, promoting acceptance and understanding.
Guided by its founder’s vision, VEISS strives to be a beacon of hope and education for those affected by vitiligo. Its commitment to both inspiration and practical support makes it an essential resource on the island, offering community, knowledge, and empowerment to individuals and families navigating the challenges of vitiligo.
